Avery Law is pleased to have advised Ownleaf on its pre‑seed investment round, led by Tramlines. The investment marks an important milestone for the company as it builds a modern and transparent financial infrastructure for the global funeral services industry.

Founded by Derrick Grant and Daniel Espeland, Ownleaf sits at the intersection of two major demographic shifts: the “Silver Tsunami” and the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history. With end‑of‑life planning expenditure expected to increase significantly over the next decade, Ownleaf is developing the tools and technology needed to support families through difficult and often complex decisions.

Derrick brings nearly a decade of hands‑on industry experience, having volunteered in a funeral home, worked in coffin retail, and grown a related business into a six‑figure operation. Daniel, formerly a Lead Engineer at Trustpilot, complements this with deep technical expertise and experience scaling complex digital platforms. Together, they have built a strong founding team with commercial and engineering depth.

The new investment enables Ownleaf to accelerate product development and expand its offering across the UK funeral services market.

Avery Law advised Ownleaf on all legal aspects of the transaction, supporting the founders through investment terms, negotiations and completion. This mandate further reflects our experience partnering with high‑growth and mission‑driven technology companies on strategic fundraising rounds.

We look forward to supporting Derrick, Daniel, and the Ownleaf team on the next phase of their journey.
